Dr. Durrenda is a scholar and has worked in the field of social work for many years. She earned her bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Wisconsin. 

She is also a Fulbright scholar and has worked in Africa earlier in her career. She has also taught as a professor at the University of Alabama and Wayne State University.

She has been awarded many accolades and continues to help others through her many local and world wide projects.
